What should you do if there is severe weather in the area?

1. If Possible, save your work and shut down your computer before the storm hits.

2. If your computer must stay on, use a UPS (Uninterruptable Power Supply) to ensure you can fully shut down your PC if there is a power outage. As a last resort, you can use a Surge Protector to prevent components from being over volted, however, this won't protect parts such as your Hard Drive (if you have one) from failing entirely or facing data loss / corruption.

3. Cover your computer up to prevent any leaks that may happen from entering the case. (Only if the computer will remain off until the storm passes)

What should you do after the storm passes?

1. After inspecting your home and making sure you're safe, inspect your computer.

2. Ensure no leaks have occurred over the computer, if you detect water open both side panels and lay the computer down on a towel (left side down), let the computer dry for 24-48 hours, do NOT use rice.

3. If there are no signs of water damage, power your computer on, if you left your computer on and had power outages Windows may scan your disk to ensure it is fine.

4. If your computer does NOT turn on do not proceed further and call STRX Technologies or go to https://strx.link/help to create a support ticket.

Should I check for anything after the computer turns on?

If you have left the computer on, just ensure your files are intact. Additionally, you can scan your disk for issues by opening Command Prompt and running the sfc /scannow command.

REMINDER: PRIORITIZE YOUR HOME OVER YOUR COMPUTER, KEEP YOURSELF SAFE!
